FAQs

At Spectrum of Grace, we believe that every question matters.
Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions from parents and caregivers about our ABA therapy services, enrollment, and clinical approach.

What is behavior therapy (ABA)?

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy that helps children build meaningful skills and reduce challenging behaviors by understanding how environment, communication, and reinforcement work together.

  • We use data-driven methods to teach daily living, communication, play, and social interaction skills—all customized to each child’s needs.

How long are sessions and how often do they occur?

  • Sessions are typically scheduled in 2–4 hour blocks, depending on your child’s needs and energy level.

  • Many clients begin with multiple sessions per week, or sometimes more than one session per day (if indicated).

  • The frequency will be guided by the initial assessment, treatment goals, and insurance coverage.

  • We review and adjust the schedule periodically based on your child’s progress, fatigue, and family preferences.

What methodologies besides ABA do you use?

  • In addition to the principles of applied behavior analysis, we use developmental individual relationship based principles (DIR), floor-time, verbal behavior, discrete trial training, natural environment training, pivotal response training play-based therapies, picture exchange communication systems/ augmentative alternative communication.

  • We tailor methods to each child, combining structured learning with play-based and naturalistic strategies to promote generalization and enjoyment.

Does my child need an autism diagnosis to receive therapy?

No formal diagnosis is required to start an evaluation or parent consultation.
However, most insurance plans require a medical diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for coverage. If you don’t yet have a diagnosis, our team can help guide you to qualified providers.

What is your service area for in-home therapy?

We are happy to serve families up to 15-miles or 20-minutes (non-peak traffic time) from our Carrollton Office location.

Q: Which insurance plans do you accept?

If your plan is not listed, please contact us—many families can still access out-of-network benefits or self-pay options.

Q: What if my insurance doesn’t cover services?
If your child’s insurance plan doesn’t include ABA coverage, we’ll work with you to explore alternatives such as single-case agreements, partial reimbursements, or private pay plans.
We’ll always review your options before beginning therapy.
